Megaline Services

What is it?
For customers demanding maximum throughput, Telkom's Megalines are a cut above other broadband leased line options because throughput is guaranteed. Megalines are leased line services that use a "dark pipe configuration" to ensure the highest possible throughput.

How does it work?
Telkom's Megaline services run off optical fibre cable, Z-screen cable or microwave, and can be deployed in various ways, such as:

The local end between a customer's premises and the local Telkom exchange Local end from a customer's premises to a neighbouring exchange. Inter-premises connection between different premises in the same exchange area.

The connection can be direct or via the local Telkom exchange. Inter-premises connection between premises in two neighbouring exchange areas. The connection can be direct or via a single Telkom exchange. Point-to-point connection between premises in two neighbouring exchange areas. Point-to-point connection between premises in two distant exchange areas.

Megalines are popular among customers for whom maximum throughput is a priority and who plan their bandwidth requirements with great precision. In other words, these customers only want to pay for bandwidth they actually use.

What are the benefits?
Guaranteed throughput, which goes hand in hand with cost-effective connectivity because customers get exactly the bandwidth they require.

Another benefit is high network uptime, as it is sold with a standard Bronze SLA Uptime guaranteed at 98.5%. Please note that Megalines are not a managed service and so are not linked to service level agreements, unlike Telkom's ATM services.

What are the product options?
Megaline services are available in three transmission speeds, namely 2 Mbs, 34 Mbs, 45 Mbs and 140 Mbs.
