Diginet and Diginet Plus
What is it?
Diginet is a dedicated, point-to-point data transfer service
that supports digital voice and video signals at speeds ranging
from 64kbps to 1984kbps.
How does it work?
Diginet provides dedicated connectivity and runs off Telkom's
national digital data transmission network, which has more than
1 000 points of presence across South Africa and is monitored 24
X 7.
Diginet services are ideal for customer data networks that
require constant bandwidth around the clock. Typically, these
networks handle large file transfers, have steady e-mail traffic
throughout the day and are online for more than three hours out
of 24.
These services accommodate networks of small to medium
enterprises, as well as those of medium to large organisations.
The reason for this flexibility is that Diginet is available as
a basic service and in an enhanced format.
Benefits?
Available throughout South Africa at shorter notice than other
leased line services, Diginet combines all-round performance
with quality and cost-effectiveness.
Services are affordably priced, combining cost-effectiveness
with reliability and speed. Both the basic Diginet and Diginet
Plus services are charged at a fixed monthly rate as opposed to
the usage-based fees charged for analogue leased lines.
Speed ranges for Diginet are far higher than for analogue
leased lines, which seldom achieve transmission speeds as high
as 64 kbps. Diginet service quality is also superior to
analogue, as the links are monitored 24 x 7. Services can be
easily upgraded to meet growth in data transfer requirements.
Another major advantage is that Diginet and Diginet Plus
services can be deployed at short notice and are typically up
and running within six weeks of an order being placed.
What are the product options?
The basic Diginet service offers speeds 64 kbps and is best
suited to small to medium-sized organisations.
The enhanced version is called Diginet Plus. This offers
speeds from 128 kbps up to 1984kbps, in aggregates of 64 kpbs,.
Diginet Plus, which is aimed at medium to large enterprises,
includes a Channelised E1 option that provides
point-to-multipoint services.
